The present study investigated the thermal load in the air conditioning of a single-family house, considering the influence of neighboring buildings' shading on the building's thermal exchanges, the impact of thermal exchanges through the roof, and the occupancy routine of the house. The study used EnergyPlus software version 9.4 and considered a region characterized by a subtropical climate (southern Brazil) as the climatic reference. The highest thermal load requirement was identified as cooling for a daytime occupancy routine (6895 BTU/h) and heating for a nighttime occupancy routine (5084 BTU/h). Regarding shading, it showed greater interference for a daytime use routine in the case of cooling needs.
